A VERY HEALTHY GRAIN WITH PREBIOTIC BENEFITS

Nordic Oats with 36% Beta Glucan is a viscous soluble fibre made from non-genetically modified (non-GM) Swedish oats that can be added to smoothies, yoghurt and hot cereal to support gastrointestinal health.

Today, beta-glucan is often recommended by boh physicians and dieticians. Two things are essential – the beta-glucans must be of the right quality and the right percentage, which you get with Nordic Oats 36.

Beta-glucan has a natural, crisp taste and is perfect to add to your breakfast oatmeal, yogurt or smoothie. When consumed, beta-glucan forms a gel in the stomach which attracts bile (which is made up of, among other things, cholesterol). When the body needs to produce new bile acids, it gets cholesterol from the blood. The result is that you get a reduction in “bad” LDL cholesterol.

Science is showing that Beta Glucans help promote a healthy gut and lowers the GI value of the food you eat, helping you avoid sudden attacks of tiredness and exhaustion. This oat product is a multi-functional nutritional supplement with the all-natural health benefits of oats. It is a natural extract from whole grain oats, produced with a chemical-free, aqueous, enzymatic process Rich in beta glucans, this soluble fibre component of the oat grain cell wall is located around the life-giving aleurone layer of the oat kernel

SCIENCE SAYS

A recent study showed that excessive exercise among professional athletes may disturb the homeostasis of the gut microbiota.

Beta glucans from oats is a soluble fiber that can be fermented by bacteria in the large intestine, producing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and other beneficial compounds that support gut health and whole-body health. Recently, multiple studies have supported the existence of a gut-brain axis.

Its water soluble soluble fiber forms into a gel in the gastrointestinal tract, serving as a valuable substrate for fermentation by colonic bacteria and resulting into the production of the SCFA (short chain fatty acid). Science is also demonstraating that β‐glucans can have immune‐stimulating properties.

Studies on beta glucan:

Cholesterol:

Clinical studies show a lowering of the “bad” cholesterol, and total cholesterol, with approximately 10 %.

When consumed, beta-glucan forms a gel in the stomach which attracts bile (which is made up of, among other things, cholesterol). When the body needs to produce new bile acids, it gets cholesterol from the blood. The result is that you get a reduction in “bad” LDL cholesterol.

Diabetes:

Clinical studies show that there is up to a 36 % blood sugar lowering after a meal with beta glucans, along with 44 % reduction of insulin secretions.

There is a blood sugar lowering as carbohydrates are encapsulated and absorption is slowed (lower glycemic index). This leads to decreased blood sugar after meals and reduces the body’s own insulin secretion.

“RESISTS DIGESTION AND IS FERMENTED IN THE GUT

Oat beta glucan contains a mixture of ß (1-3) and ß (1-4) glucosidic linkages that reduce the digestibility of this ingredient. Undigested beta glucan serves as a valuable substrate for fermentation

by colonic bacteria, leading to the production of the SCFA propionate, butyrate, and acetate.”
